Right To Protest

Yesterday, the Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky issued a press release encouraging administrators to crack down on protests during public school events.  It should go without saying that the First Amendment to the United States Constitution protects student’s rights to kneel during the national anthem, a form of protest sweeping the country in response to officer-involved shootings.  The Governor’s press release unfortunately referred to students engaging in protest as “free range chickens.”  His language was unnecessarily insulting and demeaning.

If your school administrator follows the Governor’s lead and interferes with your protected right to protest, please call us to see if we can help you.
