Craig Henry PLC recently won a case against the Louisville Police Merit Board and Louisville Metro on behalf of five LMPD employees. We argued that LMPD improperly denied promotions to our clients in violation of Kentucky law. Although Louisville Metro and the Merit Board initially argued that they correctly denied the promotions, they later agreed they violated the statute and paid over $370,000 in back pay and retirement contributions. In addition, the Police Merit Board changed its procedures going forward to ensure that promotions comply with Kentucky law.
