Craig Joins Metropolitan Housing Coalition Board of Directors

James Craig has joined the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Housing Coalition. MHC is a private, non-profit organization that works to extend safe, decent housing to all Louisville residents.  It advocates for sound housing policies, research, community education and collaboration-building.

The MHC is focusing on two important issues for the community right now.  First is the organization’s strategic plan, which should be finalized this summer.  Second is the organization’s 2013 publication “Making Louisville Home For Us All,” which expertly details the history of housing in Louisville, including the trends that led to a segregated Louisville and Ninth Street divide.  The plan calls for increased government commitment to fair housing, community engagement and education and developing a purposeful built environment in Louisville.  Craig Henry supports all of these goals, including one particular action: the repeal of KRS 381.300, which allows the state to seize a home purchased by a non-resident alien if the person does not become a citizen in eight years.
